So many people get caught up with using their printers for daily mundane tasks and mundane tasks only. However, you can really benefit from buckling down and making the most of your printer, regardless of brand. Here are a few ideas to get you started printing more creatively.
Scrapbooking
Use photos, scanned in objects, templates, borders and graphics to create your very own digital scrapbook. And don’t worry if you aren’t an expert computer user, programmer, designer or what have you. There are many programs out there that you can use that make compiling your scrapbooks easier.
Wrapping Paper
I know a lot of the time I feel limited by the wrapping paper selections at the local store. However, you don’t have to anymore. You can print your own! Just come up with a design and print it out. Use some nice quality paper. Then, wrap up your presents like normal. It’s a great way to add the ultimate personal touch.
Label It
Remember those old label makers? You punched in the letters and then pulled out the label strip. It was red with white text and that’s about it. I remember because I used to label everything in my bedroom as a kid. However, you can go label crazy again just by making use of your printer. Come up with a design, add some text and place it on a template for CDs, DVDs or standard labels. Then print it out on label sheets. It’s that simple!
Well, I hope I haven’t scared you off with my enthusiasm today. But it really is amazing how little people realize what they can do with their printers. All you need is a quality printer, some durable printer ink and some paper.
So, we’ve all heard about those multi-function printers. You know, the all-in-one…ones? These printer/copier/scanners usually utilize inkjet technology to get their printing functions done. However, Lexmark is going the laser route this time with their new all-in-one color laser printers.
Two new models are hitting the market soon, one for small businesses and the other for workgroups. The X500n and the X502n, respectively, are compatible with both PCs and Macs, making them quite the universal printer models.
Both are pretty much the same, except the X502n provides fax capability as well. Here are a few stats:
PPM: 8 in color, 31 in b/w
Output: 1200 x 600 DPI
Scan: 1200 x 1200 DPI
Ethernet: 10/100baseTX
USB 2.0
The Automatic Document Feeder, or ADF, makes copying unattended easy with a 35 sheet capacity tray.
While these may not be the fastest printers on the market they do produce surprisingly good quality prints and are perfect for small offices and workstations. They’ll cost around $499-699. If you’re having trouble finding the right printer for your company, be sure to check these out.
Since tomorrow’s Friday, check in to find out some fun ways to make your printer work for you!
Everyone knows that printer ink is expensive. It can be a real nuisance to continually run out of ink, only to have to buy another cartridge that won’t last very long and that makes a large hole in your income.
Finally, someone has noticed and HP will be rolling out a new line of cartridges that give consumers greater purchasing options. Rather than a standard sized cartridge for all printer models, you can now buy two different sizes for the same cartridge type. The new standard ink cartridge will cost around $15. Not too bad, considering all cartridges were costing about double that, right?
You can soon buy either green, blue or red cartridges. These are new identifying colors to be placed on the packaging to help you not only locate black, color or photo-quality cartridges, but also to help you identify the standard, XL and speciality models, respectively. While this won’t seem like a big change, it will help consumers locate the type of cartridge they need quicker and save money on the purchase.
Sometimes, it’s not about the latest innovations; rather, it’s more about improving the products that are already out there. What good will a technological development do if the current products are not meeting customer demands in regards to quality, cost or efficiency? Making the identifying system more clear will hopefully help the masses as they scour the office supply store for the right cartridge.
Everytime I buy printer ink, I’ll invariably leave that nifty little card that says the compatible inks you can use that came with the printer at home. This is why I should buy printer ink cartridges online from now on. No more pondering if I need 28 black or 56 black. Or, are they the same thing?
Tomorrow we’re going to delve into the world of digital scrapbooking. Get those photos ready and switch on your printer because it’s going to be one tutorial-filled day.
It’s a nice day today. I’m on my college campus, at a lengthy break from classes and decided to let the cool sea breeze and warm sun inspire my words for the day. I’m in such a good mood, I think we ought to talk about something fun and entertaining today.
So what’s the topic de jour? Yes, you’ve guessed right. I’ve been browsing YouTube again.
I wanted to show you guys something that I thought was pretty neat but also goes to show you just how far the inkjet technology can be taken. With a bit of innovation, you can print on just about anything.
So you can print on your nails now, huh? If they get that prototype down to a smaller model at an affordable price I just might have to have one, being the consumer that I am. What do you think about nifty gadgets like this? Useful? Useless? Don’t care? I want to know.
Stay tuned for our next video installment. I’ll show you a printer that prints on…
Well, it was bound to happen. You may be reading today expecting to see a lengthy diatribe about absolutely nothing. Or, you might be expecting to hear about some new printer that just hit the market. But with Earth Day day behind us, I feel it’s an appropriate time to be serious for once.
We all know that global warming is a real issue. We also know that it takes the efforts of everyone in order to slow down, halt or even reverse the damage that has already been done to this planet. Technology serves us well and allows for great progress and more leisure time. However, it also comes with a price. That price is waste.
The waste created by common technological products like printer ink cartridges is vast. Currently, only about 5% of all ink cartridges used are recycled. Now that is a waste! Not only is the plastic non-biodegradable, it is also toxic to the earth. Now, I’m not saying you should stop using these products. No. Rather, you can still print up a storm and do your part for the environment.
One way you can do this is through printer ink cartridge recycling. When you buy cartridges directly from the manufacturer, you will oftentimes receive a recycle pouch with the purchase. All you have to do is place the empty cartridge in the pouch and drop it in the mailbox. Postage is prepaid. So all you have to do is make the decision to recycle rather than throwing it in the trash.
When you buy online as well you can recycle. Many ink cartridge recycling programs are willing to take your empty products free of charge and will recondition them to be used again in the future. In some cases, you will even be reimbursed for sending in a cartridge.
In short, what I’m trying to say is that recycling is the first step we can take in the right direction. While frequently used products contain toxins and are non-biodegradable, we have to do what we can to save the earth’s resources.
I hope you had a great Earth Day, but remember: you can do your part for the environment year round!
