Where There’s A Blog There’s A Need to Print

Since blogs are taking over the world, HP wants in on the action. Apparently at a conference in New York today, HP stated that they would be working with blogs to come up with a print function that will work with the blog format and other websites. This has nothing to do with the browser printer functions people already use. Yep, a whole new way to print is what HP is after!

You’ve heard of Web 2.0, no doubt. But now, HP wants to implement something they’re calling Print 2.0. While Print 2.0 will help commercial markets print faster and easier and will help both the consumer and the executive to utilize content creation methods like Snapfish, for example, it is primarily intended to help the average person print from the web a whole lot easier.

Mark your calendars, folks! June 29 appears to be the day that both a plug-in for Moveable Type and the Tabblo toolkit will be available for download to the public. If you recall, HP purchased Tabblo earlier this year. These items will allow you to pick and choose exactly what you want to print off of a web site. You can print just a picture if you want to. Or, you can print just a text box. Or maybe you want to print some text areas and one image but not all of the images? These plug-ins can help you achieve that goal.

We’ll have to see how this works out. Maybe I can run a test of the Tabblo template for you all when it comes out. Is that something you’d be interested in?

As always, I love to hear your feedback on anything printer related–that includes printers, printer ink cartridges, toner cartridges and even ink refill kits. Whatever you want to say, let me hear it at: brenda@printcountry.com

Happy Printing!

Chocolate Printer, Chocolate Printer Ink?

Okay, sorry there’s no audio on this one, but I just post what I find! Anyway, I thought, what better way to the start the week after a nice, relaxing Memorial Day weekend than to present a little bit of sweet fun to my loyal readers?

This Choco Printer apparently prints onto chocolate lollipops. Or maybe it prints out chocolate onto generic candy. Or, maybe the printer itself is made out of chocolate! Again, no audio, so I don’t know. But, you can see that this device prints out fairly decent quality images on non-traditional materials. And that’s always fun to watch.

I am most curious as to the type of ink used here. I know that edible inks are available for cakes and such–is this the same kind of ink? Anyone know?

What I do know, is that printers now go beyond the traditional idea of ink on paper. I mean here we have some sugary, colored substance on chocolate! See for yourself:

Now you can’t tell me that’s not entertaining, even without sound. Tomorrow I’ll be bringing you some serious printer news. Yep, serious stuff!

HP Color LaserJet CP4005dn Printer Review

Yes, it’s time again for another printer review. This time, however, I’m going to talk about a standard printer. None of that technology of the future stuff. This is a printer you can use right here and right now. The HP Color LaserJet CP4006n is HP’s latest color laser printer for small to medium-sized offices.

This laser printer doesn’t have the same paper capacity as some of the more expensive models put out by other brands, but it should be sufficient for standard office functions. There are many other functions on this printer as well including:

- a duplexer that allows you to print on both sides of the page,
- a 500-sheet drawer
- a 100-sheet tray
- 30 ppm black and white output
- 25 ppm color output

The graphics quality is good, especially for a laser printer. They’re not perfect, but they will get you by especially for items like company newsletters and other documents that do not need to be of perfect quality.

It’s fast, it’s durable and costs around $1,499.99. The only drawback that I can see is its massive size. This one needs two people to move it. But once you’ve got that printer in place, everything else is a snap. Setting up is easy. Literally, just plug it in. Plus, the printer toner cartridges are pre-installed so you don’t even have to deal with them until later on.

Overall, the HP Color LaserJet CP4005dn is a quality printer for a lower price than the competitors. You may not get all of the bells and whistles, but you’re sure to get everything you need out of this color laser printer.

Have a good weekend everyone. And don’t forget to send me your questions at brenda@printcountry.com. Thanks!

Ultimate Printer Troubleshooting

I’m home for the evening this Thursday following my last day as a college student! Ah! It’s so crazy to even think about that, let alone say it. But nevertheless, it’s true. And as I venture into wide open world, I’m reminded of those that are stuck in the daily grind of work and how I’m making a vow to myself to make each day count, regardless of what I’m doing. Whether I’m blogging here about printer ink cartridges or writing up a printer product review, or I’m writing an article for a magazine or working on my novel, I want to enjoy my work. So far, so good!

But on a lighter note, this guy really needs to reassess his life, don’t you think? Sure, everyone gets frustrated with their printer once in awhile. But you go to a printer troubleshooting website, figure out what’s wrong and fix it, right? That sort of logical solution never even crossed this guy’s mind. Watch.

Whoa. Aggression issues. And see, a simple printer troubleshooting guide would have solved everything for him. Oh well. I hope you enjoyed that.

Wireless Printer Meets Picture Frame?

Today I’m bringing you something a little unconventional, but neat nonetheless. Designed by ransmeier & floyd, the Wall-Mountable Wireless Printer is sleek and stylish and the perfect accessory to the latest computer models.

The product is cool to look at and apparently functions well. You can’t do anything fancy with it, but it does print good quality photos. Once the print is completed, the finished product drops down into a viewing window where it is put on display. Your printer immediately turns into a picture frame with which you can display your latest photos or creations.

You can either hang this puppy up on the wall or you can use the stand and lean it next to your computer. A nifty eject button pops those prints right into your hand once you’re done displaying them.

Sure, it may not be the most practical of printers, but it is nice to look at. And who says that printers have to be big ugly clunky things? No one has really broken that typical printer look just yet but if someone actually builds this design concept into a functioning printer, the world of printing may be in for a change. I wonder what the printer ink cartridges for this slim printer would look like?
