Pretty cool stuff, huh? And it doesn’t seem to be too terribly hard to accomplish. An old printer ink cartridge seems to be the bulk of the materials required. Who knows? It could be a fun weekend project for you.
Geez, it seems like everyday some new photo printer is being released. Today, the honor goes to Canon with their Selphy line of photo printers.
The Canon Selphy ES2 Compact Photo Printer is compact and features many functions to help savvy photographers manipulate their photos until they are print-ready. Likewise, there is a three-inch LCD screen and several templates to choose from to frame your photos.
This printer also uses something called the Easy-Photo Pack Cartridge, which combines both the printer ink cartridges and the paper into one system. I’m not sure if this will help you save money or make you spend more money but it seems like a convenient way to go for the amateur photo enthusiast.
Xerox is coming out with several new printers that are set to rival the competition when it comes to large scale printer markets. For instance, the newest printers, called the Phaser 8860 color printer and the Phaser 8860 multi-function printer will cost around $2,500 to $4,000 respectively, which isn’t too bad when you consider what you’re getting.
You see, Xerox uses this solid-ink technology that allows both black ink and color ink to cost about the same and to produce about the same number of pages–14,000. Basically, Xerox wants to make color as accessible in the office as monochrome is.
And they may very well succeed as this seems to be continuing a trend started by Lexmark two years ago. While not applicable to the average consumer, Xerox and their printer ink technology may just be onto something.
Hey, since it’s Friday I thought I’d entertain you all with a video I found today. Want to know why printer ink costs so much and what printer ink is best for your printer? Watch and learn
Interesting, eh? I don’t know how much of this is Epson promoting themselves, but I thought it was cool nonetheless.
