Lexmark Z1300 Not the Economical Choice

If you want a cheap printer, the Lexmark Z1300 might be right for you. However, be warned.

First off, it’s pretty slow. There aren’t many features. It prints photos pretty well, but not if you need to print a lot. And the biggest drawback is the cost of the ink. This stuff is expensive!

If you foresee needed to print a lot of documents or pictures, this is definitely not the printer for you. You’ll run through printer inkjet cartridges–well, as fast as the slow print speed will let you–and you’ll spend more on each cartridge that you would for any other printer. Really.

Circuit City Has a Good Deal

Now that Thanksgiving is passed, you can keep your eye open for fantastic deals. Circuit City is not one to be left out as their offering a printer, laptop and router for about $300!

Now are these going to be top of the line products? Of course not. But it could be a great way to quickly throw someone into the tech world at a reasonable price.

The printer is an all-in-one model and the router is wi-fi. So it’s not like this is so behind the times. Conclusion? Good bargain for those on a tight budget.

Australia Keeps The Ink Out of Landfills

This is great news for those of us with the environment on our minds–which should be everyone these days.

In the past 5 years, Cartridges for Planet Ark, an Australian recycling company, recycled 5.5 million printer ink cartridges. Yes, you read that right!

How is it possible? Every single component of the ink cartridges is recycled and reused in other products, thereby avoiding the landfills all together. eWood is an example of how ink cartridges are reused. eWood is used to make outdoor furniture, fences and even fuel.

Nice to see people are looking ahead for once!

Scanning Cat

Who doesn’t like a good cat-related printer video? I know I do.

Watch, laugh, enjoy.

Technology sure is fascinating to felines, isn’t it? At least one would be led to believe it by the vast number of cat printer videos on YouTube.

Now, if we could only train them to change printer ink cartridges! Now that’s a video I’d want to see!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! And don’t fill up too much. Oh, who am I kidding, stuff yourselves and enjoy it.

Picking the Perfect Printer

I just read and awesome, awesome (did I mention awesome?) article over at CNNMoney.com about how to select the right printer for your small business.

When you think about it, the printer you pick is going to have a lot of bearing on your productivity. Getting a color printer when you don’t need color print outs is a waste of money and ink.

Go read the article. It should help you locate the right printer that includes the appropriate functions for your business. That way you’re not wasting time and money on printer ink cartridges you don’t need, toner cartridges you don’t need, etc.
