Printer Tip of the Day: Reader Question

Question:

Hi Brenda,

I am hoping that you can give me some direction.

We ordered a 3 pack Dell Toner for our office printer. However, we ordered the wrong kind and have recently learned that Dell will not take it back. So…we are stuck now, with a box of toner and out $531.

Do you know of any venue that would buy this from us? All items are still in the originally packaging. I have it listed on Craigslist and will pursue Ebay as well. But I came upon your blog and figured you might be able to help.

Thanks so much for your time!

Kellie

Answer:

Hi Kellie,

I’m so glad you asked this question because this is a very common occurrence when buying ink cartridges from certain manufacturers such as Dell.

Your idea to list them on Craigslist and eBay is a fine idea. However, there is one company that buys back all kinds of ink cartridges and offers you a quicker solution. The web address is www.tonerbuyer.com.

Toner Buyer has you fill out a form for a price request and they will e-mail you back with the amount in which they will buy your toner. From what I understand, they will pay a good price for brand new cartridges.

Anyway, I hope this helps you and feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Brenda

In the future, you can use the printer ink compatibility tool to save you from the hassle!

Lexmark Z1480 Wireless Color Inkjet Printer

Who said that quality had to come at a hefty price? Well…no one did. The Lexmark Z1480 is a great little printer that will throw out 24 ppm in black and 18 ppm in color, so it is packing the speed without packing the price.

You can get text and graphics that are of professional quality. Many buy some of the expensive printers to get the best quality on basic jobs. Unless that printer is going to cook breakfast and put the kids to bed at night, it isn’t necessary. For approximately $69.99, this little Lexmark jewel will get the job done. It even has built-in wireless to take care of those jobs from across the room.

It only weighs about 6 pounds, so it doesn’t feel like much. Don’t let that fool you. A printer doesn’t have to weigh a lot to be efficient.
