Brother Releases New Models for SMBs

The small business demographic seems to be keeping manufacturers on their toes. Brother is the latest manufacturer to introduce new models developed with the needs of the small business owner in mind. It just goes to show how much impact they have on the printer manufacturing industry.

Brother HL-5340DThe models are laser printers that will be added to their existing HL-5300 series and their MFC-8000 series. Three new models will be added to the HL line, which are single function printers, while two models will be added to the MFC all-in-ones. All the models will be available in the market starting next month, with prices ranges from about $200 to almost $500.

All five printers offer capabilities that have been labeled as ‘SMB’ needs: fast printing speeds (up to 32 pages per minute for these models), automatic duplex printing and high-yield replacement cartridges. They are now also Wi-Fi capable, as manufacturers cash in on this new trend in business operations.

Brother’s Marketing Director for Laser Products Jeff Sandler echo what SMB needs they are able to meet — wider range of connectivity options and the ability to produce quality documents while at the same time saving on costs. It might all sound too redundant as it is what everyone is saying, but let’s face it, it is what the business environment needs right now. What is yet to be seen is whether manufacturers truly deliver on these added specifications.

The new models are as follows: HL-5340D, HL-5370DW and HL-5370DWT, replacing HL-5240, HL-5250DN, HL-5250DNT and HL-5280DW in the HL-5300 series. The new additions to the MFC-800 are MFC-8480DN and MFC-8890DW, replacing MFC-8460N, MFC 8860DN and MFC 8870 DW.
