Printer Ink Cartridge Recycling
Well, it was bound to happen. You may be reading today expecting to see a lengthy diatribe about absolutely nothing. Or, you might be expecting to hear about some new printer that just hit the market. But with Earth Day day behind us, I feel it’s an appropriate time to be serious for once.
We all know that global warming is a real issue. We also know that it takes the efforts of everyone in order to slow down, halt or even reverse the damage that has already been done to this planet. Technology serves us well and allows for great progress and more leisure time. However, it also comes with a price. That price is waste.
The waste created by common technological products like printer ink cartridges is vast. Currently, only about 5% of all ink cartridges used are recycled. Now that is a waste! Not only is the plastic non-biodegradable, it is also toxic to the earth. Now, I’m not saying you should stop using these products. No. Rather, you can still print up a storm and do your part for the environment.
One way you can do this is through printer ink cartridge recycling. When you buy cartridges directly from the manufacturer, you will oftentimes receive a recycle pouch with the purchase. All you have to do is place the empty cartridge in the pouch and drop it in the mailbox. Postage is prepaid. So all you have to do is make the decision to recycle rather than throwing it in the trash.
When you buy online as well you can recycle. Many ink cartridge recycling programs are willing to take your empty products free of charge and will recondition them to be used again in the future. In some cases, you will even be reimbursed for sending in a cartridge.
In short, what I’m trying to say is that recycling is the first step we can take in the right direction. While frequently used products contain toxins and are non-biodegradable, we have to do what we can to save the earth’s resources.
