Wide format printers are used for printing jobs that cannot be accommodated using your regular desktop printers. These would be printing jobs that measure 17 inches to 100 inches in width and require a high degree of color accuracy despite their size. Because wide format printers are not used for household printing, they are found mostly in commercial printing shops, in offices that require them, and in art studios.

There are many printing jobs that require the use of wide format printers. Among these are banners used in events and parties, banners and signage used for marketing and promotions, and visual aids. Engineers and architects use wide format printers to create their drawings and plans. Graphic artists use wide format printers to create samples of their work that will be used for exhibitions. Homeowners also use the wide format printers to make artistic printouts to be used for decorating their homes.
