The Ink Cartridge Homecoming Project
Here’s some eco-friendly news! A variety of major manufacturers of printer cartridges in Japan have collectively joined forces to collect used cartridges from companies and individual users in order to better serve our environment. Who are these companies?
- Brother Industries, LTD./Brother Sales, LTD.
- Canon Inc./Canon Marketing Japan Inc.
- Dell Japan Inc.
- Seiko Epson Corporation /Epson Sales Japan Corporation
- Hewlett-Packard Japan, Ltd.
- Lexmark International, Co., Ltd.
- Japan Post Service Co., Ltd.
- Japan Post Network Co., Ltd.
This amazing venture is currently being coined as the “The Ink Cartridge Homecoming Project.” Collection boxes have been placed in all major Post Offices. By visiting the post office you can get rid of your used computer inkjet cartridges which are then returned to the plants where they will in some cases be recycled and reused.
It is expected that other companies and countries will jump onto the band-wagon and will also begin carrying out these type of “Homecoming Projects”, with the entire world seemingly focused on the environment and recycling at large. This is great news since millions of people worldwide have been attempting to find out what they can do with their used ink cartridges in order to not effect the environment at large.
Here’s hoping that the United States will jump on and start these free collection boxes in post offices! There are a few organizations at work already that make the collection and disposal of ink cartridges convenient. However, American based post office have yet to offer these type of collection boxes at every post office.
