Considering A Digital Picture Frame? How About One That Prints Pics Too?
In an ingenious move Sony’s latest picture frame doubles as a compact photo printer. Sony’s DPP-F700 S-Frame has a 7 inch 16 x 10 ratio LCD display with a 800×400 pixel resolution. The printer sits covertly behind the display screen and prints professional grade pictures at the quick rate of 45 seconds. What’s more you can also quickly edit the pictures before you print them. The editing software allows for borders, calendar formatting, ID Photo printing and photo collages using several pictures.
It’s also got great storage space allowing for the storage of as many as 2,000 pictures on a 1 gig onboard memory chip. While it isn’t the first such device on the market it is one of the cheapest. The first device was SmartParts’ model early last year. Epson also created an attached printer/frame combo in Japan the Colorio Me E-800 postcard printer which costs $600. The Colorio does well in Japan where it’s used for the Japanese custom of sending a personalized picture on New Years. Sony’s DPP-F700 S-Frame takes the best aspects of both these models and works them into a single device at a reduced price, it’s well worth the purchase.
