Facebook Wins Over Spam King!

If there is anyone who can honestly say that they have never been spammed, then come on down, you are a winner! But we will dare say that finding a regular internet user who has never been spammed is highly unlikely. We are thinking that the only people who can say that are grannies and toddlers who have not taken even one peek into the World Wide Web.

Spam KingThere may be a glimmer of hope for those of us who find this as extremely annoying. Facebook was recently awarded $711 million in civil damages after winning its battle against self-proclaimed “Spam King” Sanford Wallace. Why one will openly say that he is the ‘spam king’ is beyond me, but hey, to each his own.

The verdict was handed in by a court in California, which found Wallace guilty of violating the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003; Wallace may be looking at a bit of jail time.

Wallace was accused of accessing Facebook accounts without the user’s permission. He then used this access to place phony posts on the walls of the user’s friends. And being the spammer that he is, he also used this access to spam the user’s friends.

Wallace is reportedly a known chronic spammer. His e-mail marketing company, Cyber Promotions, was reportedly once “the largest source of unsolicited e-mail in the world”. Another one of his “ventures”, SmartBOT, was charged with infecting computers with spyware.

We certainly hope that this is just the tip of the iceberg, and that there will be more Wallaces in the World Wide Web that will end up in the same boat. There are other legitimate and less annoying ways of using the power of the internet to earn a decent living.

Well deserved but what’s the point of a million-dollar fine, that he never in 100 lifetimes can pay up… Typically the hypocrites that thinks fines scares the spammers off course… IMO it would be better to shoot him, set a perfect example for each and every @£$£@¡ spammer….

This is what everyone doesn’t get about this guy though. Facebook is hardly the first to win such a battle against him.
Not only is this hardly his only spam op. But this is hardly his only company.
This will not be the last we’ve heard of the spam king.
