Cool Apps for Your Motorola Droid

Nirvana has come to those who have been waiting anxiously for the Motorola Droid. The appointed day has finally come – the Droid is now most probably sitting comfortably in the hands of those who have been convinced “the Droid advantage”.

Motorola DroidAny user who acquires a new phone will most probably be doing one thing for the next 48 hours — tinkering with the phone and trying to see exactly what he or she can do and, in the case of the really fancy ones such as the Droid and its alleged competitor, choosing and downloading apps that theoretically will make the mobile smart phone experience much more fun and life easier.

To get you started with your shiny new Motorola Droid, fresh out of Verizon, here are applications you might want to check.

First up is an app that may just be a Twitter user’s best friend — the Twidroid. The app is available in both free and pro versions, with the latter setting you back 5 bucks. If your planned use of Twitter on your new Droid is limited only to the basic features – viewing and sending tweets, following and unfollowing users and viewing profiles, then you can just make do with the free version.

Those who cannot live by Twitter alone will prefer the Meebo for Android. Aside from tweeting your way through the day, you can also stay connected with friends who would rather use AIM, MSN, Yahoo, MySpace IM, Google Talk, Jabber and ICQ. Having a Meebo account will also allow users to save a collective log of all chats that may be accessed online.

These are just two of our favorites in the ten thousand apps that the Android Market has to offer. Which ones are yours?
