If I ever encounter a headline that says that the possibilities of the iPhone have ceased to increase, then it will most definitely be the biggest surprise of my life. And it is a surprise that I will not believe even for a second. No, I am not a die-hard fan of anything Apple, although I do admit to owning a couple of their goodies; but I am a firm believer that the smart phone invasion has no place to go but forward, and that there will most probably never be a final destination.

gigawareOne of the used-to-be unavailable features on the iPhone and iPod Touch has been bridged, thanks to an accessory and app combo. These two gadgets were unable to tune into HD radio channels, unlike the Zune HD. US-based iPhone and iPod Touch users, however, can now access HD broadcasts of radio feeds while on the go.

The Gigaware Navigation Controller, released to the U.S. market by iBiquity, consists of a hardware accessory for the iPhone and the iPod Touch and an accompanying app. It incorporates an HD control module and is equipped with controls that are not unlike those featured on the white plastic Apple Remote as well as the second generation iPod shuffle.

Perhaps just as important to know is the integration of two popular social networking tools – Twitter and Facebook – into the accompanying software. The software also reportedly provides manual and auto-seeking options and iTunes tagging. The accessory will set you back about $80, but the app is available for downloading for free from the App store.
