With the advent of lower prices for more powerful CPUs in the computer industry, more Netbooks being sold fueled the increase. In the third quarter of the business year CPU shipments increased by 23 percent, doubling the usual amount shipped in a quarter. With the CPU’s becoming smaller for mobile devices, the costs for said devices are selling more thus the increase in CPU sales. Some are stating that Intels Atom processor for Netbooks, mobile phones and other wireless communication devices. The importance of the Atom is the lower power usage that enables the user to truly conserve energy while in an idle mode in select devices. The Atom was created with the Intel Core technology in mind, so it has the ability to run devices easier and quicker than ever before. The Atom is currently being marketed for Netbooks and Nettops, Internet specific mobile devices and desktop computers.

The chip is versatile in its usage and power, going up to 1.8ghz per chip in processing power depending on consumer needs. The chipsets are currently being used in concept designs for future releases and is available to consumers for their personal devices. The chipset comes in two different forms, the Intel Atom and the Intel Centrino Atom. The Intel Atom is mostly for MID (Mobile Internet Devices) and a new category of devices called Netbooks and nettops. Netbooks and nettops are computers used solely for surfing the Internet, either at home or on the go. With the chipsets for computers becoming smaller and easier to produce, the initial costs of said devices are becoming lower, and the CPU market is rebounding considerably, and hopefully this is a sign that parts of the economy will pick up soon.
