Dell Unveils World’s Fastest Laser Color Printer
It can be rather risky to lay claim to being the –est something, so Dell must really be holding something concrete to back their claims up. Last week, they announced the launch of three new workgroup printers, and one is being touted as the fastest single-function letter-size color printer in the market today – the Dell 5130cdn.
So, what speeds are we talking about here? The rated speed of the 5130cdn is reportedly up to 47 single-sided and 37.6 double-sided pages per minute, both black and white and colored. Color saturation and image sharpness was improved courtesy of ColorByDell tech supplies.
Aside from churning out prints at a faster rate, the 5130cdn also boasts of a relatively low cost per printed page — a penny for black and white and $0.077 for colored pages. Its monthly duty cycle is pegged at 110,000 pages.
The other two printers that share the 5130cdn’s launch date are the Dell 7130cdn LED color printer and the Dell 3330dn single function monochrome laser printer.
The Dell 7130cdn is the first LED color printer from Dell that has tabloid-size printing capability. The machine has a monthly duty cycle of 150,000 pages as well as a processor speed of 1 GHz. It is priced at $2799 against the 5130cdn’s $1549. The Dell 5130cdn has a three-year next business day warranty while the 7130cdn only has a one year next business day warranty.
Offices that do not do a whole lot of color printing – or even none at all – can make do with the Dell 3330dn. At almost six hundred bucks, its price tag is rather manageable. Its rated speed is 40 pages per minute and has a monthly duty cycle of 80,000 pages.
