iPhone Apps You Can Definitely Live Without
We once shared with you iPhone apps that didn’t quite make the cut as far as Apple is concerned; they were banned from the App store.
Now we bring you some that actually made the cut, and we cannot help but ask ourselves – “Why?” CNNMoney.com shares with us these ho-hum apps.
Zips. For 99 cents, you get to drag a zipper up and down until you wear yourself down. For variety, you can change the underwear that gets exposed, and a camera icon will allow you to add your own pictures. We rest our case.
Taxi Hold’em. This app will reportedly come in handy for those who are unable to produce a shrill whistle, thereby depriving one of the ability to hail a cab in the busy streets of, let’s say, New York. The app will graciously do the whistling for you, and if that does not quite cut it, then you can tilt your iPhone horizontally so that it can attract a driver’s attention by flashing the word “TAXI”. Do this at night in New York and you will definitely attract something – and he will not be the someone that you think. Do not be surprised if you somehow end up cab-less and iPhone less.
iNap@Work. Again, for 99 cents – an app that will hopefully make people around you think that you are slaving away in your cubicle even when you are getting a bit of a shut eye. The app reportedly generates random office sounds, such as keyboard taps and mouse clicks, to make unwitting listeners think that you are hard at work. It will even allow you to adjust your “productivity level”.
Hold the Button. This app is a test of sorts – for patience, and for will power. Prove that you are the most patient person alive by putting your finger on an image of a fingerprint on your iPhone – and hold it – and hold it – until you beat out the scores of all the other people who seriously need to get a life, or find something else productive to do. Surely one can find other ways to prove the length of one’s patience than just that.

OK, Hold the Button gets all of the negative press. But I’ve written an equally pointless app and no one ever mentions it. Check out Press This! (it’s free). Let me know if it’s more or less “live withoutable” than Hold the Button.
