Black Friday: A Merry Start to the Holiday Season!

black fridayBlack Friday has come and gone, and after a lot of speculation, here we are, witnesses to its aftermath. And despite America’s worries of unemployment and a financial slump, it still looks like the holidays of 2009 will still be merry.

Shoppers were still quick to gobble up deals and were perfectly willing to stand waiting in line way before they care to be up most mornings; after months of wheeling and dealing and tightening their purse strings, America has decided to loosen up a bit.

Players in the retail industry noticed that there was an increase in consumer traffic across the board when compared with figures from last year. There are stores, such as the Wal-Mart at Bentonville in Arkansas, which opened at midnight instead of their usual 5 am opening time to give interested shoppers a real head start on their shopping sprees; the deals, though, still started at 5 in the morning.

Sony VAIOAnd what did shoppers go for this year? It can be rather surprising that a budget-conscious crowd went for the rather pricier items on the menu: flat-panel TVs and computers of all shapes and sizes. When one sits back to think about it, though, it does make sense; one will be frugal about these things when they cannot be purchased at a bargain, and now is a great chance to do so. Imagine being able to get a Sony VAIO for less than $400. Now that’s a deal right there that you may not find any other time, and it is not a bad reason to part with that much money.

Toys still topped the list, though. Christmas, after all, is an especially important season for children, and parents can make do with scrimping the rest of the year just to see those angelic faces light up when they open their awesome presents from under the tree. Among the most sought-after items were Zhu Zhu Pets robotic hamsters.

We also hit on a great bargain of our own, but we will not go into the details; suffice it to say that this post is coming to you from a spankin’ new – and definitely a great buy of a – laptop. It will be a merry season indeed!
