Apple MacBook Spring 2010 Review
We have the iPhone, the iPad and the iPod – with all these little Apple gadgets taking America and the world by storm, they sometimes eclipse that other product line in the Apple family: the MacBook. With summer well under way, though, and most people all set in the entertainment gadget arena, it may be a good time as any to start thinking about the best laptop to take back to school in the fall.
Apple released the MacBook Spring 2010 last May, and CNET’s Dan Ackerman has his take on the machine. The MacBook Spring 2010 gets 4 stars for having a faster processor, improved graphics and a better battery life; it, however, still lacks an SD card slot, and Ackerman thinks that Apple may want to consider making a switch to 16:9 aspect ratio displays.
All told, however, the new MacBook puts one over the basic MacBook by having improved features without changing its predecessor’s design and without extra dollars added to the cost. It may, indeed, be something that the returning student will want to take back to school.
Most consumers in the student demographic are faced with a tough challenge: the need for a laptop that is able to give good performance without necessarily having to pay too much. At less than a thousand dollars, Apple attempts to strike such a balance through the MacBook. The new model is equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and was given a slight boost in battery life.
All told, this is the ideal machine to take on all-night study sprees at the town coffee shop – or for note-taking during the day.
