iPhone 4: Can’t Wait for FaceTime!

And the hottest topic in the tech circuit is – the iPhone 4. We actually find it interesting that despite the fact that Apple did not seem to be introducing anything new – and that’s not because they are not innovative, but because someone else beat them to the first reveal – the excitement still seems to be on a high note. Apple has not lost its touch, and seems to be unaffected by the whole April brouhaha.

FaceTimeThere are a number of wonderful things about the iPhone 4, but if we were to pick our fave feature to watch out for, it would have to be FaceTime. Despite the fact that the concept itself is not exactly something new (we’ve had video chat for quite some time, but it is only now that the tech is allowing users to do it on the fly) nor is it totally unique (the HTC Evo also has QIK), we are interested in finding out what Apple was able to do with the technology and how it will translate to sales.

An analyst, however, discussed limitations to FaceTime. Nothing in this world is perfect: FaceTime will only work when on iPhone 4, and in order to prevent data hogging on the AT&T 3G network, the app is only made available through Wi-Fi. Still, these things can also become an advantage (for Apple, that is): for one, since it will only work between iPhone 4 models, those who really want to use the app will ensure that those they want to interact with has the phone as well. That’s twice the sale guaranteed right then and there!
