iPhone Apps for a Stress-Free Holiday Season

While it may seem that stress and the holiday season are two things that should not go together, it can actually be surprising that a time to relax and be merry can be stressful. Whether it’s elbowing your way through a crowd in the mall or simply trying to get everyone to agree on whether the mashed potatoes should be made smooth or lumpy, the holidays can actually lead to some people losing their cool.

But as in anything else, the iPhone seems to have an answer to anything. A feature on PC World shares perfect iPhone apps that will hopefully help your holiday season be truly merry.

iPhone appsThose who have yet to come up with standard holiday fare or are in the mood to mix it up a little bit this year may find great menu ideas on Epicurious Recipes and Shopping List. This is a comprehensive app – which comes for free, by the way – that allows the user to search through over 25,000 yummy, pro-tested recipes from such kitchen staples as Bon Apetit, Gourmet, SELF, Cookie and PARADE, as well as various recipes from chefs, restaurants and cookbooks. This certainly is a far cry from filling your kitchen table with several volumes of thick cookbooks. What more, you can even create your shopping list right within the app!

And once you have the menu out of the way, you may want some help in choosing the perfect bottle of bubbly to compliment your feast. Check out Wine and Dine; for almost $4, enjoy the convenience of going through postings from various expert sommeliers on the perfect pairings.

If slaving away in the kitchen is not your thing and you are tired of going to the same old place year in and year out, you may want to try Urbanspoon. This free app takes care of dining indecision, as it helps users pick a place to eat when a group can’t decide which one to go to; talk about a really fancy way of doing a coin toss.
