Protect Your Android with Mobile Defense!

It certainly is nice to have something that’s equally nice and fancy in your pocket. The unfortunate thing is that having one on you can be like a neon sign for thieves and pickpockets that say: “Rob Me”.

mobile defenseA free Android app, however, can provide Android users with the ability to locate their phone when lost and protect data on their phone in the unfortunate event that it gets stolen. Previously accessible only to users on the T-Mobile network, the Mobile Defense Android app is now also available for use by Sprint and Verizon subscribers, which means that more Android devices and their users can take advantage of the security that the app is able to provide.

So what exactly can Mobile Defense do? Upon its installation, the app will allow the user to log on from the Mobile Defense Website. If and when an Android phone with Mobile Defense gets lost, its user simply needs to sign in and click on the “Connect to Phone” option to be locked into the Android device in question.

The app can then pinpoint the exact location of the phone and provide the user with the ability to remotely lock or unlock the phone and unleash a rather piercing alarm from the phone’s speakers. The app utilizes GPS, cell sites and Wi-Fi hotspots to locate and connect to an Android device.

If, for instance, someone tries to put in a new SIM card into the device, the user will receive an e-mail notification from Mobile Defense that will provide the user with the line number, subscriber ID and mobile operator of the new SIM card. It will also allow the user to send emergency commands that the phone intruder cannot block.

Coming soon is the ability to remotely back up and then remove data from the device, in case there was no way to retrieve it. This is an important feature, in the interest of preventing identity theft.

Mobile Defense runs quietly in the background and uses up a negligible amount of memory and battery power.
