Techie Toys for the Big Boys — and Girls Too!
Posted by John C Arkin on December 7th, 2009Who says toys are only for the little ones? Practically everyone is a kid at heart, and with the onset of technology and innovation, there is a toy out there for each and every one of us, regardless of lifestyle and preferences. Here are some toys that CNET thinks those of us who are kids at heart will love to have this Christmas.
Logitech Squeezebox Radio. This little black box takes listening to the radio to a whole new level – and an entirely wider scope. Instead of just being able to tune into your favorite local FM, you can now listen to practically any radio station from around the world! The Squeezebox is a Wi-Fi radio that can tap into your home network to access the thousands of radio stations that are available online.
Logitech Harmony One. With the multitude of machines for home entertainment that we have at home, having a universal remote is certainly a great consolidator and space saver. And the best among the bunch is the Logitech Harmony One. This model requires its user to answer an online questionnaire, which will ask about one’s home AV setup. This info may then be downloaded into the remote via USB connection, and “after a few rounds of consolidation”, you’re good to go.
Envizen Digital Duo Box Pro ED8850A. Who says the fun of watching a movie on DVD has to be left at home? With a portable DVD player, movies can be enjoyed practically anywhere, anytime. As far as portable DVD players go, the Envizen Digital Duo Box Pro puts one over its counterparts by having a full-fledged digital TV.
Nintendo DSi. Game playing is for anyone and everyone, and for us Nintendo is one of the names most associated with being able to play a game. If you find the touch-screen and gyroscope controls of the iPod Touch or the iPhone limiting, then you might appreciate the fact that the Nintendo DSi is also fitted with old-school controls on top of a touch screen.
