Put Your Printer To Work

689777_printer.jpg We are all looking for ways to stretch our dollars these days. Many people have lost jobs and are scrambling to find ways to make a few bucks. If you have some spare time and are even the slightest bit energetic you can put your printer to work and create a cottage industry to generate some cash.

Have you ever been at the mall and noticed the little specialty booths located in the open areas? Assuming the space rental is reasonable; set up a small sales display. All you need is room enough for a table, a PC or desktop, paper, printer (preferably and printer/scanner) and access to power.

What you will be doing is making custom designed business cards at prices very reasonable when compared to professional printers. All you need to do this is some business card stock paper in an array of colors, a supply of printer cartridges and internet access. Online you can find any number of free programs and templates for creating business cards. If the customer has a company logo you can scan it and use it to create the business card. Free photos and images are in ample supply online so there is no limit to the designs you can create for your customers.

Business cards custom made by professional printers may cost up to $70 for 200 cards. To add perspective: a box of 20 pages of Avery business card stock to make 200 cards sells for $14 online. Say you have a Pixma MP500; you can get the full set of printer cartridges for only $53 online, each of which makes over 250 pages. Your cost to make 200 cards is only $18-$19; there is profit in creating custom business cards even after paying space rent.
