The History of Inkjet Printers
One can’t credit a particular person with the invention of the first inkjet printer. There were many companies who were conducting research into the same; however it was the DeskJet Printer from Hewlett Packard introduced in 1988 that set the ball rolling. But this printer was expensive and its $1000 price made it unaffordable for the masses.
Therefore, companies started focusing on the affordability factor. It was Siemens that came up with a popular and affordable inkjet model way back in 1977. A number of businesses and organizations started using this printer. Both HP and Canon brought out a popular range of liquid ink based printers wherein ink was stored in cartridges and helped print documents.
If there is one component of printers, on which a whole lot of revolutionary development has taken place, it is the cartridge. The cheaper and more effective the cartridge, the more the printer’s popularity! This was and still remains an undisputed fact.
