How to Properly Store Your Ink Cartridges

There are basically two types of ink cartridges: the newly manufactured cartridges and the remanufactured cartridges.

ink cartridgesYou may need to store them in slightly different ways. Let us start with the brand new cartridges. They are sealed and have a shelf life of about 2 years. Since no other particles, even air, can get into the container, the ink doesn’t dry out if kept in a safe place.

Remanufactured cartridges are quite harder to maintain. They have a print head attached to their cartridge bodies, allowing air to come inside the main cartridge during use even when they are sealed with rubbery tape. This may cause the ink to dry up and clog the nozzle. Some people have tried to remedy this by using anti-static plastic bags, but even the tiniest amount of air that can get in can cause damage.

So to help you out, here are some more of our ink storing tips that you can definitely try at home.

a) Store your ink in a dark and dry location and never in direct sunlight.

b) To keep the sponge moist and area near the print head dry, store your ink cartridges in an upright position.

c) Keep your cartridges away from children. Not only will you be able to protect your cartridges, you’ll be protecting the things around you from staining as well.
